Weatherbys Hamilton was founded in 2012 as a partnership between Weatherbys and Charles Hamilton to establish an insurance broker that would provide the highest levels of service and advice to private clients. It absorbed Weatherbys Insurance which hitherto had only transacted bloodstock insurance. Weatherbys was founded in 1770 by James Weatherby and has been the administrator of racing in this country for an unbroken period ever since. Johnny and Roger Weatherby, the two brothers who are the seventh generation of the family, preside over a firm that now extends to a thriving private bank and associated financial services, with insurance being provided by Weatherbys Hamilton.
Charles Hamilton is an insurance broker of 40 years’ experience in private client insurance. Weatherbys Hamilton has used its partnership model to recruit high calibre individuals from Lycetts, Howdens and NFU Mutual, amongst others. All of these have extensive experience and a strong following in their respective fields. There are currently eight partners in addition to Weatherbys and the firm operates from offices in Newmarket, Swindon, Wellingborough, Penrith, Horsham, Edinburgh and London. Being within easy reach of our clients is all-important to us and enables us to deliver the personal hands-on service that sets us apart.
At a time of growing anonymity in the insurance sector, where brokers are consolidating and becoming increasingly corporate, all too often the interests of their shareholders seem to override those of their clients. That is exactly the opposite at Weatherbys Hamilton where our owner-operator structure ensures that the interests of our clients are, and will remain, at the heart of everything we do. The ethos of Weatherbys that has stood it in such good stead for 250 years is mirrored by Weatherbys Hamilton and long-term relationships with our clients are everything to us.
