About Sworders
Sworders Fine Art Auctioneers were established in 1782 in a Georgian coffee shop in North Street, Bishop’s Stortford by a Mr Peter Ramsay. Our headquarters remained in Bishop’s Stortford until about 20 years ago when we moved four miles north to Stansted Mountfitchet, over the county border in Essex.
A traditional company, we still hold details of property sales and auctions in bound volumes dating back to 1850. We aim to combine a sense of history and tradition with a modern approach to our very contemporary business.
We have worked hard to ensure our online digital offering is strong so that customers, who cannot visit either due to the current restrictions or geographical location, are aware of the items we offer for sale and are able to view them in great detail and comfort. We have been striving towards this for five years or more, the events of 2020 have made our digital presence absolutely key. Sales now regularly attract bidders from as far away as the United States, Australia, Russia and China, ensuring that we are a truly global business.
Please visit our website www.sworder.co.uk to view the many fascinating items for sale and the services we offer.
